Shaheen Shah Afridi, renowned as one of Pakistan’s premier fast bowlers, has clinched the title of the country’s top-rated T20I bowler, as per the latest update from the International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled on Wednesday. This feat further cements his stature as a role model for aspiring cricketers worldwide.

Shaheen has ascended two spots to claim the 17th position among T20I bowlers. The ICC has lauded his stellar performance in Pakistan’s ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, where the 24-year-old has emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the first three matches.

Throughout the series, Shaheen showcased his prowess by securing one wicket in the rain-affected opening match. He delivered a remarkable performance in Pakistan’s pivotal seven-wicket victory over New Zealand in the second encounter, claiming three wickets for just 13 runs. This impressive showing has propelled him up the rankings, surpassing his teammate and fellow fast bowler Haris Rauf, who now occupies the 22nd spot.

The coveted top spot in the T20I bowlers’ rankings is held by England’s Adil Rashid, while New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi has surged up five spots to claim the 18th position following his standout performance against Pakistan.
