Saudi Crown Prince congratulates Shehbaz Sharif on becoming Pakistan’s 24th PM

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has extended warm congratulations to Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his appointment as the 24th Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Sharif clinched his second-term position by securing 201 votes in the National Assembly, surpassing his rival Omar Ayub, who enjoyed the support of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, presently incarcerated.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) relayed the Crown Prince’s felicitations via social media, stating, “His Highness the Crown Prince congratulates Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on assuming office as the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.”

Saudi Arabia holds a significant position for Pakistan, with over 2.7 million Pakistani expatriates residing there and bolstering the nation’s economy through remittances. The two countries share robust ties in trade, defense, and fraternal relations.

Additionally, countries such as China, Turkey, and Iran have also conveyed their congratulations to Sharif on his election as prime minister.
