Report: Only 5% of Children in Pakistan Receive Quality Education

A recent report from the Ministry of Education reveals that only 5% of students in Pakistan receive quality education, while just 12% of the eligible age group has access to higher education.

The report underscores that education remains one of Pakistan’s greatest challenges, with around 26 million children out of school. It notes, “roughly not more than 5% of children are receiving good quality education.”

The National Education Policy Development Framework 2024, launched on Monday, highlighted that no province in Pakistan is free from the ongoing education crisis.

Despite a ban on corporal punishment, about 40% of children under five still face such practices, alongside prevalent issues like bullying and abuse, which remain largely unaddressed.

The report stresses the urgent need to improve education quality, pointing out that many universities fail to meet “modern industries and global standards.” Additionally, limited access to higher education is exacerbated by challenges in distance learning and other barriers.
