Ranveer Singh’s new film Dhurandhar, based on Karachi’s Lyari gang wars and regional geopolitics, has been denied screening across Gulf countries. According to Bollywood Hungama, the movie was not cleared for release in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, or the UAE.
Sources said authorities were hesitant to approve the film due to its portrayal of Pakistan, noting that similar movies have faced bans in the region before. Despite efforts by the filmmakers, Gulf nations reportedly rejected the film’s theme.
Released on December 5, Dhurandhar has stirred debate in both India and Pakistan, with many Pakistani viewers calling it propaganda while also criticizing their own industry for failing to produce strong films based on local stories and history.
