Punjab is facing one of the worst floods in its history as torrential rains have claimed at least 33 lives, submerged over 2,200 villages, and displaced more than 700,000 people, according to the PDMA. While water levels in the Sutlej near Kasur are receding, nearly 135,000 cusecs are expected to hit Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, and Vehari. Floodwaters have already swept through Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur, forcing mass evacuations, while discharge at Treemoon Barrage has surged to 361,633 cusecs. Authorities are considering controlled breaches to reduce pressure and limit further damage.
