Prince Rahim Aga Khan V appointed as the 50th Imam of the Ismaili community

Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V has been appointed as the 50th spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, as announced by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). His succession follows the passing of his father, Prince Karim Al-Husseini Aga Khan IV, who passed away at the age of 88 in Lisbon. The announcement came after the official unsealing of his late father’s will. The Ismaili community, with a 1,400-year history of being led by a hereditary Imam, consists of around 12 to 15 million followers across more than 35 countries.
