Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to increase from September 16, with petrol likely to rise by Rs1.54 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs4.79, according to industry sources. Estimates also suggest kerosene oil may go up by Rs3.06 and light diesel oil by Rs3.68 per litre. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will submit final calculations to the Petroleum Division on September 15, which will then be forwarded to the prime minister for approval. The new rates will take effect after his consent. This adjustment follows the September 1 review when the government reduced HSD prices by Rs3 per litre to Rs269.99, while petrol remained at Rs264.61. Fuel prices are revised fortnightly, based on global oil trends, currency exchange rates, freight margins, and government levies.
