Pakistan’s meat exports reach $512 million due to high demand

Pakistan’s meat and meat products exports reached a record high of $512 million, marking a 20% increase from $426 million the previous year. This growth was driven by a significant 24% increase in export volume, totaling 123,515 tonnes.

The surge in exports highlights the strong international demand for Pakistani meat, made more competitive on the global market due to the substantial devaluation of the Pakistani rupee.

Despite overall growth, the average global price for meat decreased by 3%, dropping to $4.1 per kilogram. This decline was partly due to lower export values to the UAE, although prices remained steady in other regions.

The success in meat exports demonstrates Pakistan’s potential to expand its agricultural and food product markets internationally, even as the country navigates economic challenges.

This performance is particularly notable given global fluctuations in food prices and the competitive landscape of the international meat market. The continued increase in export volume suggests that Pakistan’s meat industry is well-positioned to capitalize on growing global demand, particularly in markets where Pakistani products are known for their quality and affordability.
