Pakistani architect Yasmeen Lari has declined the 2025 Wolf Prize in Architecture, valued at approximately Rs 2.79 crore, to show her concern for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Wolf Prize, awarded in Israel since 1978, honors excellence in various fields, including architecture. Lari explained that rejecting the award was “the very least I could do” to express her solidarity. Known for her commitment to social justice and sustainable design, she founded the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan, leading initiatives like 50,000 self-built shelters and 80,000 energy-efficient cooking stoves for underprivileged communities. Her work continues to improve lives and promote eco-friendly construction.
