Pakistan is now the fifth largest producer of sesame seeds

In the present year, Pakistan has achieved the status of being the world’s fifth-largest producer of sesame, with exports exceeding four hundred million dollars. The Ministry of National Food Security and Research highlights the significant role of sesame as a crucial cash crop within Pakistan’s agricultural landscape.

This accomplishment is attributed to the concerted efforts of provincial governments collaborating with the Ministry of National Food Security, bolstered by the National Oilseeds Enhancement Program, which is funded through the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).

The cooperative initiatives and strategic programs have been instrumental in boosting sesame production, positioning Pakistan as a key player in the global market for sesame exports. This has resulted in an impressive milestone, with exports reaching over four hundred million dollars in the current year.
