The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reached a staff-level agreement (SLA) with Pakistan, paving the way for the country to receive $1.2 billion after approval from the IMF’s board. The deal includes $1 billion under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and $200 million under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), bringing total disbursements to around $3.3 billion. The agreement follows recent discussions between IMF officials, led by Iva Petrova, and Pakistani authorities on economic and climate-related funding. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, currently in Washington, had earlier expressed confidence that the deal would be finalized this week.
