Pakistan Gains PKR 445 Billion from China for Karakoram Highway Upgrade

Pakistan is finalizing a PKR 445 billion deal with China to upgrade the Thakot-Raikot section of the Karakoram Highway. This project aims to improve transportation, reduce congestion, and enhance safety by building quality bridges, reinforcing slopes, and creating bypasses. Talks between Pakistan’s Finance Ministry and Chinese officials are ongoing, with a joint venture likely handling the work under the CPEC initiative. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is updated regularly, and a high-level delegation may soon visit China. Further CPEC Phase II projects in agriculture and IT are also anticipated, all aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s infrastructure and economy.
