Pakistan drops two spots in the global corruption index

Pakistan dropped to 135th place out of 180 countries on the 2024 Corruption Perception Index (CPI), falling from 133rd last year, according to Transparency International. The report highlights a rise in financial misconduct within the public sector, as Pakistan’s score declined from 29 in 2023 to 27 in 2024. Transparency International Pakistan clarified that the index is compiled annually by its Berlin headquarters, using independent global assessments of governance and anti-corruption efforts.
