Pakistan Denies Indian Claim of Targeting Golden Temple in Amritsar

Pakistan’s Foreign Office firmly rejected Indian claims that it planned to target the Golden Temple in Amritsar during the recent military tensions. The denial came in response to allegations reported by Indian media, which, without presenting evidence, accused Pakistan of attempting a missile and drone strike on the sacred Sikh site between May 7 and 8. Citing an unnamed army official, the Hindustan Times claimed the Golden Temple was a primary target, but the attempt was thwarted by India’s air defense system. Pakistan labeled the accusation as baseless and irresponsible, stressing its respect for all religious sites and commitment to regional peace.
