Pakistan Army Excuses itself from Providing Any Security to Punjab and KPK Elections

The Ministry of Defense apologized for providing security for KP and Punjab Assembly elections and by-elections of 93 National Assembly constituencies

In order to cover the elections, the ECP (Election Commission of Pakistan) requested the ministry to seek help from armed forces, whereas defence ministry excused.

A letter has been sent to interior ministry, the Defence Ministry excused that they couldn’t provide static deployment of rangers and Frontier Corps for the upcoming by-elections, as, according to them, the deployment of the armed forces was not feasible.

As armed forces and civil armed forces are currently engaged in border management and internal security management.

As per the defence ministry, threats of te*rorism increased in Pakistan. However, the armed forces would be engaged in census process from February 27 to April 3 2023.
