The opposition alliance Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Ayeen Pakistan has launched a nationwide protest campaign against the 27th Constitutional Amendment, vowing to disrupt parliament and halt its proceedings, alliance chair Mahmood Khan Achakzai said in Islamabad. The movement — starting immediately under the slogan “We reject such a constitution” — accuses the amendment of protecting individuals and weakening state institutions, a charge repeated by former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and Senator Raja Nasir Abbas, who warned the changes serve elite interests and threaten the country’s future.
