The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a cold wave warning for Pakistan’s upper and northern regions, urging residents to take precautionary measures. According to the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC), Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir are expected to experience heavy snowfall in high-altitude areas, with very cold to extremely cold conditions during nights and mornings. The NDMA warned that snowfall could disrupt roads, transport, and power supply, while frost may affect nearby plains, and snow slides or avalanches could pose risks to people, infrastructure, and livestock.
