Mobile phone users in Pakistan paid Rs 3.38 trillion in taxes over the past five years, according to the National Assembly

The Ministry of Finance revealed that over Rs 3 trillion in taxes were collected from mobile phone users in the past five years, with total revenue from this sector reaching Rs 3.38 trillion.

As of August 2024, Pakistan has 193.1 million cellular subscribers. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported an 800% surge in gas prices in just four months.

The cost of basic food items like sugar, palm oil, and soybean oil has also increased by over 50%, making daily essentials less affordable for many.
