Mike Hesson Reveals Babar Azam’s New Batting Role in T20 Format

Pakistan’s white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has confirmed that captain Babar Azam will bat at the No. 3 position in the upcoming T20 series, expressing full confidence in his strong comeback. Speaking at a press conference at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Hesson said Babar’s inclusion in the T20 squad reflects the management’s belief in his form and leadership. He added that the team will continue testing different combinations as part of preparations for the T20 World Cup. Addressing player selections, Hesson mentioned that wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris had received multiple opportunities but needed to show more consistency and maturity. He praised Usman Khan for his impressive play against spin and called spinner Usman Tariq a promising future prospect. Reflecting on Pakistan’s Asia Cup final defeat, Hesson described the result as disappointing and urged the team to improve in all areas of the T20 format. He also advised players outside the national setup to focus on domestic cricket to strengthen their performance and readiness for international selection.
