Several journalists criticized the government for censoring Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protest coverage on electronic media, leading people to rely more on online platforms than TV news channels.
Senior journalist Absa Komal highlighted the impact of restricting mainstream media, stating that when traditional outlets lose credibility by avoiding real-time reporting, audiences turn to political parties’ official pages for updates. Marina Baabar praised PTI’s official page for providing timely information, which mainstream media often fails to deliver.
Journalist Ameer Abbas accused TV channels of promoting a state-driven narrative, claiming, “The media is unable to air PTI’s perspective on any accident or incident.”
