Lahore has once again been ranked as the world’s most polluted city, recording an alarming Air Quality Index (AQI) of 274, according to global air monitoring data. As winter nears, the city faces worsening smog conditions, putting millions at risk of respiratory and other health issues. Areas such as Allama Iqbal Town (459), Gulberg (396), and Model Town (362) reported dangerously high AQI levels, falling into the “very unhealthy” and “hazardous” categories, highlighting the urgent need for effective pollution control measures.
