Karachi residents waiting for improved public transport will face further delays, as the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Red Line project is now expected to be completed by December 2026 or later. Senior Sindh Minister for Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, revealed that objections from stakeholders, including the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), are causing major setbacks. Despite being under construction for three years, the multi-billion-rupee project is facing additional delays due to slow infrastructure relocation by utility services like power, gas, and telecom providers. Memon expressed concern, stating that meeting the December 2026 deadline seems increasingly unlikely.
