Traffic accidents in Karachi have claimed 182 lives and injured 2,211 people this year. Among the deceased, 128 are men, 20 are women, 18 are boys, and 6 are girls, while the injured include 1,844 men, 277 women, 66 boys, and 24 girls. Heavy vehicles were responsible for 57 fatalities. To address the rising accident rate, a new department called “Karachi Road Accident Analysis” has been established. This unit will collect evidence, analyze accident causes, and provide reports and recommendations to authorities. Additionally, Karachi traffic police have collected over Rs1.33 billion in fines for motor vehicle law violations over the past and current year.
