Karachi Police Request Federal Help to Deport US Woman Onijah

The Karachi police have requested the federal government’s assistance to expedite the deportation of Onijah Andrew Robinson, a U.S. woman currently in Pakistan.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza stated that he wrote a letter to the Additional Inspector General of Police, urging the Sindh government to seek federal intervention in the matter.

Robinson, 33, is currently being treated at the psychiatric ward of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). She arrived in Pakistan in mid-October to marry 19-year-old Nidal Memon, whom she met online. However, Nidal reportedly rejected her after his family opposed their marriage, leaving her stranded in Karachi.

After roaming the city, Robinson staged a 30-hour protest outside Nidal’s residence. She was then taken to a guest house, but the management refused to accommodate her. The police subsequently handed her over to philanthropist Ramzan Chippa.
