Iran Says Nuclear Deal Achievable If U.S. Shows Realism

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, stated on Friday that reaching an agreement on the country’s nuclear program with the United States is possible if Washington adopts a realistic stance. Speaking ahead of the second round of talks with the Trump administration, Araqchi emphasized that serious intent from the US, without unrealistic demands, would pave the way for a deal. He noted that the US demonstrated seriousness during the first round of talks in Oman last week. The second round is set for Saturday in Rome. US President Donald Trump has threatened military action if Iran does not agree to a deal, claiming that Iran’s nuclear ambitions, though stated to be peaceful, are suspected by the West to involve the development of an atomic bomb.
