India and China have agreed to resume direct flights after nearly five years, signaling a positive turn in their strained relations since the Covid-19 pandemic and the 2020 border clash in the Himalayas. The announcement followed a visit to Beijing by India’s Foreign Ministry Secretary, Vikram Misri, marking one of the highest-level diplomatic engagements in recent years. Both nations have agreed “in principle” to restart flights, with technical teams set to finalize the framework soon. This move reflects a joint commitment to rebuilding trust and addressing unresolved trade and economic issues, fostering improved diplomatic ties.
