Govt Bans Dumpers’ Daytime Entry in Karachi

The Sindh government has imposed a daytime ban on dumpers entering Karachi to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow. Heavy vehicles are now only allowed between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. The decision followed an emergency meeting led by Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah, addressing rising accidents and weak traffic law enforcement. To enhance safety, all heavy vehicles and drivers must undergo physical verification, and the Transport Department will issue QR Code-certified certificates. The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board must shift operations to nighttime within three months, while Karachi’s water tankers require inspections within a month. Traffic police will also enforce helmet laws and launch a public awareness campaign.
