The Government of Pakistan has banned road travel to Iraq and Iran for the upcoming Arbaeen pilgrimage due to rising security threats. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the decision after consulting with the Foreign Ministry, Balochistan government, and security agencies. With increased risks in regions like Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, authorities have closed all road routes to protect pilgrims. Each year, around 700,000 Pakistanis join the Arbaeen pilgrimage, many traveling by road, but this year, strict safety measures will prevent overland journeys.
