Ben Stokes returns as captain for England’s three-Test tour of Pakistan next month, while Brydon Carse could make his debut after recently completing a ban for breaking betting rules.
Stokes, who missed the 2-1 series win against Sri Lanka due to a hamstring injury, will lead the team. Zak Crawley is also back in the squad after recovering from a broken finger.
Carse, a bowling all-rounder, replaces Mark Wood, who is out with an elbow injury. Carse, 29, has played 17 white-ball matches for England and joins a 17-player squad, including uncapped Jordan Cox. Dan Lawrence, who filled in for Crawley, has been dropped.
