Elon Musk Departs Trump Administration Amid Policy Disagreements

Elon Musk announced his departure from his role in the U.S. government, aimed at reducing federal spending, following a public disagreement with President Donald Trump over a major spending bill. In a post on X, Musk thanked Trump for the opportunity but criticized the bill for increasing the deficit and undermining the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has cut tens of thousands of jobs to reduce waste. Musk emphasized that the DOGE mission would continue to grow despite the challenges, and expressed frustration that the department had become a scapegoat for public dissatisfaction. In an interview with CBS News, Musk voiced disappointment over the bill’s impact on fiscal goals, signaling a shift in focus back to his companies, SpaceX and Tesla.
