Bureaucrats must now declare their assets

The federal cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has approved an amendment to the Civil Servants Act 1973, aligning with IMF requirements. The proposed change will require government officials (BPS 17 to 22) to disclose their assets, including those owned by their family members, both in Pakistan and abroad. This decision was part of the legislative committee’s recommendations and aims to enhance financial transparency within the civil service.
