Blast Near Red Fort in New Delhi Kills 10

A powerful explosion near New Delhi’s historic Red Fort on Monday evening killed 13 people and injured 24 others, according to Indian media. The blast, which occurred at 6:52pm near the Red Fort Metro Station, destroyed multiple vehicles and caused panic in one of the city’s busiest areas. Police said the explosion happened inside a slow-moving car stopped at a traffic signal, damaging 22 nearby vehicles. The National Investigation Agency and National Security Guard have launched an investigation into the cause of the blast, while several Indian states, including Mumbai, Jaipur, and Uttar Pradesh, were placed on high alert. Emergency teams quickly controlled the fire as security forces cordoned off the area, which is usually crowded with tourists.
