The Council of Representatives of Bahrain has made the announcement that the Israeli ambassador to Bahrain has departed from the country, while the Bahraini ambassador to Israel has returned to Bahrain.
In a significant step, economic relations with Israel have been suspended, demonstrating solidarity with the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people. This marks the first instance of such action taken by one of Israel’s Gulf Arab allies.
Bahrain and Israel had forged diplomatic relations in 2020 as part of the US-brokered Abraham Accords, an initiative aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and Arab nations.
