In the midst of his somewhat lackluster performance at the ongoing 2023 Cricket World Cup, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, retains his position at the pinnacle of the ICC Men’s ODI Batsmen Rankings. Shubman Gill from India is situated in second place, trailing Babar Azam by a margin of 18 rating points.
The most recent update to the rankings reflects some movement, notably with South Africa’s Quinton de Kock making significant strides. Even though he commenced the tournament with two centuries, his dismissal for a mere 20 runs against the Netherlands triggered a batting collapse for South Africa, resulting in the loss of four wickets for just eight runs.
Nevertheless, despite this setback, de Kock has ascended by three places and now occupies the third spot in the ODI batting rankings. This places him ahead of his teammate Rassie van der Dussen, who has moved down to the fourth position.
