Afghan Refugees in Pakistan Urge US to Restart Resettlement Program

Afghan refugees awaiting US resettlement have appealed to the Trump administration to resume the halted P1/P2 programme, saying they are living in Pakistan under severe hardship and fear of deportation. Their statement comes days after the US suspended all Afghan immigration cases following the shooting of two National Guard soldiers near the White House. The refugees said their cases were fully processed and they were waiting for flight dates when the programme was suddenly paused on January 20, 2025. They also condemned the Washington attack, stressing that they have spent over three years in Pakistan facing uncertainty and insecurity.
