Achakzai Terms 27th Amendment a ‘9/11 Tragedy for Pakistan’

Tehreek Tahaffuz-i-Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai has strongly opposed the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, calling it a “9/11 on Pakistan” and announcing a nationwide protest against it. He said the amendment would “shatter the foundation of the country.” The peaceful protest will be held under the slogan inspired by Habib Jalib’s ghazal: “Aise Dastoor Ko, Subh-i-BeNoor Ko, Me Nahi Manta, Mai Nahi Janta.” Speaking at a press conference at the National Press Club, Achakzai also raised two slogans: “Death for dictatorship and democracy live long” and “Free the prisoners.” Declaring himself a true patriot, he said he had taken an oath to protect Pakistan five times, two of which were administered by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
