Abu Dhabi introduces sand-to-sea pathways to improve beach accessibility for people with disabilities

Abu Dhabi is harnessing green technology to enhance beach accessibility for wheelchair users. In collaboration with Mubadala, the emirate’s investment arm, the city has introduced remote control-operated ramps developed by the Greek company Seatrac.

These solar-powered tracks feature a chair system that enables individuals with disabilities to navigate from the beach to the water autonomously. Users can utilize the ramp’s rails to lower themselves into the sea and easily lift back into the chair. This innovative device has already been successfully implemented at more than 200 beaches in Greece.
