Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a reduction in electricity prices for domestic consumers by Rs 7.41 per unit, bringing the new tariff down to Rs 34 per unit. Speaking in Islamabad, he credited Army Chief General Asim Munir for his role in stabilizing Pakistan’s struggling economy.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that electricity prices had previously peaked at Rs 58.50 per unit but were gradually reduced. In June 2024, the rate stood at Rs 48.70 per unit, later dropping to Rs 45.50. With the latest cut, households will see significant relief in their electricity bills, easing financial pressure on consumers.
