Renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil revealed that he donated to charity the jewelry set gifted to his wife by the late Kulsoom Nawaz, former first lady. The gift was given after he attended a religious gathering and dinner hosted by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in Jeddah.
In an interview with journalist Irshad Bhatti, Maulana Tariq Jamil expressed gratitude to Nawaz Sharif, mentioning that he only appreciated the “delicious dinner” he hosted. Reflecting on his interactions with the Sharif family during Nawaz Sharif’s exile in Jeddah, he shared that he had a cordial relationship with the former premier, who invited him multiple times.
During one visit, Kulsoom Nawaz gifted a jewelry set to his wife. Recalling the moment, Maulana Tariq Jamil said, “I thought it was a dress, but when we opened the bag, it contained jewelry.”
