WhatsApp may soon enable users to translate messages into different languages

Meta’s WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a new feature that enables users to translate messages directly within their chat boxes. This feature aims to facilitate communication by helping users understand messages in languages they may not be proficient in, especially benefiting those from diverse language backgrounds.

According to sources, the translation feature will operate using downloadable language packs. These packs will enable users to comprehend messages written in languages different from their own. A key aspect of this feature is that the translation process will occur locally on the user’s device, ensuring privacy as messages will not be transmitted to external servers.

Initially, the feature will support languages such as English, Arabic, and Hindi. Meta plans to expand this capability by adding more languages in future updates. To utilize the translation feature, users will need to download and install the language packs corresponding to their language needs.

Currently, this feature is in development specifically for Android phones. It is expected to significantly enhance communication accessibility for WhatsApp users worldwide.
