The United States has officially ended the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) for Pakistani students after 15 successful years, following directives from the U.S. State Department. Managed by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), the program provided over 2,500 Pakistani students the chance to study in U.S. universities, focusing on academics, leadership, and cultural exchange. USEFP expressed deep regret over the closure, acknowledging the disappointment of recent applicants. Launched in 2010, Global UGRAD helped students gain valuable international experience and contribute to positive change in their communities. The program’s closure marks a significant shift in U.S.-Pakistan educational relations and reflects broader changes in U.S. visa and exchange policies, raising concerns for international students worldwide.
