Two girls were killed and five others injured when gunmen opened fire on a school van in the Dheri Kot area of Attock on Thursday, according to eyewitnesses and police sources.
The van, carrying students from a charity-run school, was en route from Dheri Kot village to Surg when two men on a motorcycle intercepted it and began shooting.
Attock District Police Officer (DPO) Sardar Ghayas stated that the attack targeted the van driver and stemmed from an old rivalry. Eyewitnesses reported that as the attackers fired, the driver accelerated, causing the bullets to hit the children seated in the back of the van.
