The FBR has imposed a monthly advance tax of Rs. 60,000 on Karachi traders under the Tajir Dost Scheme

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a new tax policy under the Tajir Dost Scheme, requiring shopkeepers in Karachi to pay an advance tax of Rs 60,000 monthly. This has sparked concerns, particularly in the electronics market, with traders unhappy about the added tax burden. In response, they have announced a nationwide strike on August 28. Trade groups, including the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran, have criticized the policy as unfair, demanding its cancellation and urging the government to address other issues like higher taxes on exports and revising income tax rates for salaried individuals and business owners.
