Shell Pakistan has made an official announcement regarding the discontinuation of its aviation operations throughout the country

Shell Pakistan Limited (SPL) has recently made the decision to discontinue its aviation operations across the country. In a notice issued to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), SPL revealed the specific locations where the aviation operations will be ceased, namely:

(i) Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) (ii) Quetta International Airport (QIAP) (iii) Begum Nusrat Bhutto Airport (BNB) in Sukkur (iv) Nawabshah Airport (WNS)

The decision to cease operations at these airports was prompted by the expiry of leases associated with them. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has consequently initiated a joint tender inviting interested parties to bid for the operation of these six airports, which include the aforementioned four airports currently operated by SPL, as well as KDU (Skardu International Airport) and GDU (Gwadar International Airport).

After careful consideration of various factors, including legal compliance, financial implications, and commercial considerations, Shell Pakistan Limited has chosen not to participate in the tender process. SPL will ensure a smooth handover of operations to the CAA or relevant stakeholders involved at the respective airports.

The exact date of exit will be determined in coordination with the CAA and communicated accordingly. It is important to note that SPL’s other businesses and operations in the country will remain unaffected and continue as usual.
