Shaheen Shah Afridi named Vice Captain for Australia Test Series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a significant step by appointing Shaheen Shah Afridi as the vice-captain of the national Test team, a decision revealed on Wednesday. This strategic move designates Afridi as the deputy to Shan Masood for the upcoming tour of Australia, underscoring the board’s confidence in his leadership capabilities. Importantly, this marks Afridi’s second stint in a leadership role, having previously captained the Pakistan Men’s T20 Cricket Team, showcasing his versatility and growing prominence in Pakistani cricket.

With an impressive cricketing resume, Shaheen Afridi brings a wealth of experience to the team, having participated in 27 Test matches, 53 ODIs, and 52 T20Is. This extensive international exposure not only attests to his individual prowess but positions him as a seasoned campaigner capable of positively influencing the team’s performance.

In his role as vice-captain, Afridi’s responsibilities extend beyond on-field contributions, encompassing leadership, mentorship, and strategic input. This dynamic addition enhances Pakistan’s Test team as they prepare for the challenges presented by the Australian cricketing arena.
