On October 31, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi achieved a significant milestone by becoming the fastest Pakistani bowler to reach 100 ODI wickets. This remarkable accomplishment occurred during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh in Kolkata, where he secured his 100th ODI wicket in just his 50th innings.
Shaheen Afridi, who is also the son-in-law of former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi, boasts an impressive track record in different formats of the game. He has already claimed 105 wickets in Test matches, achieving this feat in only 46 innings, and has also taken 64 wickets in T20 internationals.
His cricket journey began when he represented Pakistan in the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, amassing an impressive tally of 12 wickets.
In September 2018, Shaheen made his debut in One Day Internationals (ODIs) during the 2018 Asia Cup, facing Afghanistan. He followed this up by making his T20 international debut in March 2018. Recognized as the main strike bowler for the Pakistani team, he made his Test debut in December 2018, further solidifying his position as a key asset in Pakistan’s cricketing lineup.
