PTI leader and former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser has announced a lawyers’ movement against the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, calling it a threat to democratic principles. Speaking in Islamabad alongside TTAP chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai and former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair, Qaiser said the party would also consult legal experts on the 26th Amendment, which it had opposed in Parliament last year. He criticised the governance system as “neither legal, constitutional, nor democratic,” alleging control over the National Assembly and restrictions on lawmakers’ prison visits. Achakzai warned that constitutional changes could jeopardise Pakistan’s stability.
