Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is open to talks with Afghanistan if Kabul agrees to meet Islamabad’s “justified” conditions amid rising border tensions. Speaking at a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, he emphasized the need to eliminate those involved in violent attacks against Pakistan. The tensions flared after cross-border firing last week, prompting retaliatory action from Pakistani forces. Following Afghanistan’s request, a 48-hour temporary ceasefire was implemented on October 15. PM Sharif confirmed the truce, stating that Pakistan is ready for dialogue during this period to peacefully resolve the issues.
