Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday condemned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the recent protests, accusing the party of causing severe economic harm to the country.
During a law and order review meeting, he instructed authorities to form professionally trained anti-riot forces nationwide, equipped with tools meeting international standards.
Earlier this week, Islamabad witnessed widespread unrest as PTI supporters defied a ban on public gatherings, demanding the release of party founder Imran Khan. The protests ended abruptly following a crackdown by law enforcement agencies (LEAs).
PTI leader Salman Akram Raja alleged that at least 20 people lost their lives during the operation, with the party planning to challenge the government’s actions in court.
