PIA Faces Rs8.56bn Loss Due to Delay in Selling Grounded Aircraft Parts

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) reported a loss of Rs8.56 billion due to delays in selling spare parts from grounded aircraft, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) revealed in Islamabad. During the PAC meeting, chaired by Syed Naveed Qamar, officials reviewed PIA’s financial position, privatisation matters, and audit objections. So far, spare parts worth Rs3.8 billion have been auctioned, while six aircraft remain unfit for operation. The committee also discussed recoverable assets of Rs2.61 billion from PIA-owned properties and reviewed irregularities of Rs12 million in the Ministry of Defence’s procurement process.
